On Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the "Affairs of the Heart: Understanding Genetic Cardiomyopathy" conference, The Joseph Middlemiss Big Heart Foundation, Inc. presented a $15,000 check to Children's Cardiomyopathy Foundation to help fund research.

7,500 "All You Need is Love Mission Cards" Dispersed Internationally

October 2014

The foundation has dispersed over 7,500 "All You Need is Love Mission Cards" internationally. A string of random acts of kindness was initiated by each card dispersed.  Mission cards have reached as far as England, Canada, Hawaii, Turkey, Australia and Ireland.  Countless acts of kindness have been spread and hearts have been opened.  Life changing stories have been shared on the Joseph Middlemiss All You Need Is Love Mission Facebook page.

Kindness Resource Book Baskets

October 2014

8 school kindness presentations have been completed. Our Foundation's Kindness Resource Book Baskets (est. cost $250.00/each) were donated to the schools. These baskets include age appropriate literature focused on kindness. The presentations have ranged from a general introduction of the reciprocity of kindness to lessons in persevrance through life's most difficult times. Audiences have been led through examples of the powerful effects of "choosing kind."

SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED

October 2014

FOUR children were awarded full year, private Music Scholarships.  Lessons are currently being given at the Music Academy of Chelmsford. ($1500 value each).

Heart Week Gifts

October 2014

Students from Tyngsborough Elementary School selected their favorite book title and made Valentines for patients on the cardiac floor at BCH. Books were purchased by the Foundation. 35 gift bags filled with books and valentines were delivered to the patients during Heart Week to lift their spirits and remind them that people CARE!

Family Support Basket

October 2014

A family support basket with a value of $550 (hotel stay, restaurant cards, activity passes for siblings, gas cards, snacks and comfort materials) was presented to the Murphy family.  Their daughter was a long-term patient on the cardiac floor at Boston Children's Hospital. Similar baskets will be put together and dispersed to families dealing with the emotional and financial stressors of having a child inpatient on the cardiac floor.  The goal of each basket is to support basic needs such as food, sleeping arrangements, funds for gas and activities for the WHOLE family during an extended inpatient stay. 

Donation of 400 Gifts to Be Like Brit Orphange in Haiti

Over 400 gifts (toys and activities for children) were collected/donated in Joseph's name and delivered to Len and Cheryl Ann Gengel for distribution at the Be Like Brit Orphanage in Haiti.

Cardiomyopathy/JMBHF Awareness Night Held at Lowell Spinners

A cardiomyopathy/JMBHF Awareness night was held at the Lowell Spinners and countless random acts of kindness were carried out by JMBHF board members. All recipients were families at the game. JMBHF donated two "Buddy Benches" to Tyngsborough Elementary School

JMBHF donated two "Buddy Benches" to Tyngsborough Elementary School. Students will be taught how to use the benches to foster kindness and friendships while on the playground. Several additional benches will be purchased and donated to other school communities.
