Dream Big & "Big Heart" ... TOGETHER!

 

Dream Big: A True Story of Courage and Determination by Boston Marathon Race Director, Dave McGillivray, and co-author, Nancy Feehrer, is a picture book that tells the true story of McGillivray's first failed attempt at running the famous race—that he’s now directed for almost 30 years—and the beloved Grandpa who encouraged him to dream big…and work hard.  Dave has run 144 marathons, run across the United States (3452 miles) twice and participated in the Iron Man Triathlon six times, among many other accomplishments.  After all of these amazing athletic feats, Dave was shocked to learn he had a life-threatening heart condition.  After surgery and working hard to improve his heart-health, Dave has a message of encouragement and hope to share: to reach your big dreams, you need to work hard to be healthy—physically, mentally, emotionally & spiritually.

The Joseph Middlemiss Big Heart Foundation, Inc was founded by Scott & Kate Middlemiss in memory of their son, Joseph, a beautiful boy who, despite suffering from cardiomyopathy, touched many lives and hearts during his short time on earth with his exuberance for living and his ability to make people smile. The Big Heart Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity, honors Joey’s memory by promoting acts of kindness; educating and inspiring children; and contributing to cardiomyopathy research & to families suffering as a result of cardiac conditions.
